What is agi?
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is a hypothetical type of artificial intelligence that can mimic or emulate human intelligence and behavior. It is a branch of theoretical AI research that aims to create software with human-like cognitive function, including the ability to self-teach and perform tasks that it is not specifically trained or developed for.
AGI is also known as Strong AI or Deep AI and is considered a primary goal of AI research. It is expected to have a wide range of applications, including helping to mitigate various global problems such as hunger, poverty, and health.
AGI systems are not yet available, but some examples of artificial intelligence are already meeting or exceeding human capabilities. Research and experimentation are currently underway to advance AI into AGI.
In contrast to Narrow AI, which is designed for specific tasks, AGI is a theoretical form of AI that can perform as well or better than humans on a wide range of cognitive tasks. A key characteristic of AGI is its ability to learn and apply this knowledge to solve problems.
While AGI is still in the midst of being produced and launched, some companies such as IBM, Google, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft are already working on AGI and/or building the advanced AI and machine learning (ML) that enables AGI.
