What is a aroace?
Aroace is a term used to describe individuals who identify as both aromantic and asexual.
Aromantic refers to a person who lacks a desire for romantic relationships or feelings. They may enjoy platonic relationships, but romantic relationships may not be their priority or may not be of interest to them at all.
Asexual refers to a person who lacks sexual attraction or a desire for sexual activity. They may still form close bonds with others, but sexual intimacy is not a part of those relationships.
As an aroace individual, a person may not experience romantic attraction or sexual attraction. This identity is a legitimate and important part of the LGBTQ+ community, and it is essential to recognize and respect the experiences and identities of aroace individuals.
It's worth noting that aroace individuals may still form close, intimate relationships, but these relationships may not be romantic or sexual in nature. They may deeply care for and be committed to others without experiencing romantic or sexual feelings.
Resources for aroace individuals include The Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN), which provides community support and resources for asexual individuals, including those who identify as aroace.
