What is a furry?
A furry is a member of a subculture interested in anthropomorphic animal characters, which are animals with human-like characteristics, personalities, and behaviors. The furry fandom, as it is commonly known, encompasses various forms of creative expression, including art, writing, and costuming.
In this subculture, individuals often create and identify with their own anthropomorphic animal characters, known as "fursonas." These characters can be seen as an extension of oneself, allowing individuals to express their personality, creativity, and imagination.
The furry fandom has its roots in science fiction and fantasy fandom, and has evolved over the years to incorporate various artistic and creative expressions, such as artwork, fiction, and costumed role-playing.
While the furry subculture is not formally organized, it has a strong online presence, with numerous communities, forums, and social media groups dedicated to the fandom.
For those interested in exploring the furry fandom, there are several online resources and communities available, including:
- Fur Affinity, a platform for artists and writers to share their work
