- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined.
- Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf shape on a baking sheet.
- Bake the meatloaf for 45-50 minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the glaze by mixing together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl.
- After the meatloaf has baked for 30 minutes, brush the glaze all over the top of the meatloaf.
- Return the meatloaf to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the glaze is caramelized and the meatloaf is cooked through.
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Tips and Variations:
- To add extra flavor, you can add chopped bacon, diced bell peppers, or chopped mushrooms to the meatloaf mixture.
- For a spicy kick, add a diced jalapeño pepper to the mixture.
- To make individual meatloaves, simply divide the mixture into 4-6 portions and shape each portion into a mini loaf.
- You can also make this recipe in a slow cooker. Simply brown the meatloaf in a skillet, then transfer it to the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-5 hours.
